(From Kamigamo Shrine to Ohara)
The route provides you the landscape of the Kyoto countryside. You can see beautiful hills and forests around Ohara. The landscape is different from that in the city of Kyoto. The route goes through a great variety of picturesque natural settings. This route is recommended for someone who cycles or has good physical fitness. The distance: 37.5km (23.3mile)
(From Kamigamo Shrine to Kurama)
The route ends in Kurama, a town surrounded by greenery. Minamotono Yoshitune aka Ushiwakamaru, a famous samurai and military commander in the twelve century, lived in Kurama in his childhood. Due to the slopes in this route, more effort may be required for beginners. If you want to have a workout while sightseeing, this is suitable. Distance: 24.5 km (15.2 mile)

Daikakuji Temple via Kinkakuji Temple)
You can see famous temples in Kyoto en route in addition to places only local people know. The route passes through mountains, and so you can experience nature. Due to the slopes in this route, more effort may be required for beginners. If you want to have a workout while sightseeing, this is suitable. Distance: 27.8 km (17.2 mile).
(From Kamogawa to Imperial Place via Shimabara,
Mibu-dera Temple, and Nijo Castle)
The route goes by the places where Ryoma Sakamoto, a prominent activist, and Shinsen-gumi, a special police force, worked in the Bakumatsu period, the end of Tokugawa Shogunate or Edo era. You pass through the city of Kyoto and see historical spots in the city. The road is flat, so you can enjoy the ride easily. Distance: 17.5 km (10.8 mile)
(From Kamogawa to Ginkakuji Temple, via Sanjusangendo
and Kiyomizu-dera Temple)
If you are interested in Higashiyama Culture, the culture flourished in Kyoto in the fifteenth century, this course is recommended. The culture is known for Wabi-Sabi. The route passes between the city side and the mountain side. You can experience "calm" Kyoto. The road is flat, so you can enjoy the ride easily. Distance: 18.8 km (11.6 mile)

The starting and ending location is at Qbei Bicycle Shop in Shimogamo, which is next to the Shimogamo
Shrine, a World Heritage Site. The location is in the center of Kyoto and easy to access from anywhere in
Kyoto. You can visit the Shimogamo Shrine after your ride.
